This demo is a conceptual demonstration of what could soon be the generation of experiences/games in the near future.

"Every pixel, every frame, every sensation that reaches our brains will be generated and offered by an AI."

I want to convey the idea that this goes beyond creating simple assets. The next big step that is likely to occur in the industry will be to generate each frame of a video game in real time, probably making traditional computer graphics techniques obsolete.

Techniques used:

  • For this demo, I used a video generated by Deforum/SD, and applied it to a texture to simulate moving through a world entirely generated by AI.
  • I converted the Deforum video to a "depth map", giving the video I'm projecting as a texture additional depth.
  • I used a character created with Midjourney and converted to 3D with CSM.

Technical issues:

  • Unfortunately, I spent all Sunday dealing with technical issues, trying to build but always encountering errors. I was only able to upload the one version that worked for me, an old version of the game.
  • I spent all Saturday trying to get the video timeline to work so that it could be controlled by the player's movement speed. It's an effect that really gives the sensation of moving through this virtual world every time you move forward (it synchronizes with the player's speed). It was a shame, but in the end this mechanic gave me issues in the WebGL build and it's not working, the video simply plays at the same speed.
  • I also regret that the video currently being projected in the scene is a "Place Holder", taken from a fragment of a video from the YouTube channel "Surrealism". I couldn't use in this build the video I had been preparing focused on the theme of the Jam.
  • All in all, I ran out of time and was unable to better integrate both the theme of the Jam and some pure video game mechanics to make the experience more entertaining.
  • I won't even start on the polish, the game lacks a lot of visual and technical polish.

I hope you understand the situation and the inconveniences 🙏
If I see that people are interested in the idea of this demo, I would be very interested in finishing and polishing this "mini interactive experience".

Probably, I'll be posting more updates on this project, as well as other work, on my Twitter:

Really textural experience that feels virtual. Problems happen, especially in a jam, but this is surreal and wonderful.
